UConn Health User Accounts
UConn Health users log in to REDCap using their institutional AD account—the same account used to log in to a UConn Health computer and access email and other Microsoft applications. Because these enterprise-wide accounts are issued and managed by Central IT, UConn Health users should contact the IT Service Desk (above) for assistance with institutional account or password issues.
Important: The “Forgot your password?” option on the REDCap login page is not available for UConn Health accounts. Do not use this option to reset your institutional password.
UConn-Storrs and External User Accounts
Prior to September 2026, accounts for UConn Storrs and external users were created and managed directly within REDCap. These accounts were REDCap-specific and could be used only to access REDCap. They could not be used to access other UConn Health systems or applications.
Beginning in September 2026, all UConn-Storrs and external users must obtain and use a UConn Health affiliate account to access REDCap. Affiliate accounts use UConn Health Active Directory (UCH AD), the institution’s central authentication system. New local REDCap local accounts will no longer be issued.
Users who currently have local REDCap accounts will be transitioned to affiliate accounts over the next several months.
DEV and PROD Environments
The REDCap Development (DEV) and Production (PROD) environments are separate systems. Your account status, access, and credentials may therefore differ between the two environments. Access to one environment does not automatically provide access to the other. If you are having trouble logging in, first confirm that you are using the correct environment and the appropriate credentials.
Two-Factor Authentication (Duo)
REDCap uses Duo two-factor authentication (2FA) for all UConn Health, UConn, and external users accessing REDCap from outside the UConn Health network.
Duo Tips
- Make sure Duo Mobile is installed and configured on your smartphone.
- You must be able to receive and approve Duo push notifications on your smartphone.
- Phone call and SMS authentication are no longer supported.
- If you are not receiving Duo notifications, check whether Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is blocking notifications.
- Temporarily disabling Do Not Disturb or Focus may resolve issues with missing Duo notifications.
For assistance with Duo authentication, contact the UConn Health IT Service Desk (Above).
