Identification Badges: Expiration Date and Renewal

All employees, students, contractors and vendors are required to wear a UConn Health identification badge visibly whenever entering a UConn Health facility and throughout your stay. This requirement is in place to enhance your personal safety. The identification badge also provides access to restricted areas of campus.

An expiration date is printed on the front of your ID badge. Each person is responsible for replacing his or her badge, no sooner than 30 days prior to the expiration date, or if it is lost.

  • Employee and Volunteer badges expire every five (5) years on your birthday.
  • Medical and Dental Student badges expire at the end of May in your last academic year.
  • Graduate and Visiting Student badges expire at the end of the last month of your academic or clinical program.
  • Contractors and Vendor badges expire one (1) year from your background check approval date.
  • There is a $15 fee for lost ID replacements.

Academic Lot Gates

The access gates at the Academic entrance parking lots A1, A2, A3 and A4 are now active.

When the entrance gate is in the down position you must scan your ID badge to open the gate. Do not attempt to follow a vehicle through the gates when they are active. You must stop, wait for the gate to return to the down position, then scan your ID badge to raise the entrance gate and proceed slowly.

At the exit lanes an ID badge scan is not required. The exit gate will open when your vehicle activates the in-ground loop detectors. Always proceed slowly, and watch for pedestrians and approaching traffic.

A valid permit or authorization by Parking, Transportation and Event Services is required to park in these lots. Vehicles without the proper permit or authorization will be subject to citations.

Please be cautious when travelling in this area.

Thank you.
