High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)

Hypertension or high blood pressure has been called a silent killer because most people don’t recognize they have it since there are generally no symptoms or warning signs. Our hypertension specialists provide a full range of care, diagnosis, and treatment, including ambulatory 24-hour blood pressure monitoring with interpretation of the results, screening for co-existing conditions, evaluation of risk for diabetes, recommendation of lifestyle modifications, treatment for hypertension-induced organ damage, and nutritional education.

Symptoms

High blood pressure often has no symptoms, but some people may experience one or more of the following:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Nosebleeds
  • Headaches
  • Anxiety

Treatment

High blood pressure can often improve with lifestyle changes, and your doctor may recommend the adoption of a healthier diet and a more active lifestyle. If your high blood pressure cannot be controlled by lifestyle changes, there are many medications available to lower blood pressure, and your medical team will work with you to find the one that is right for you.
