Paul Nwokeji
UConn School of Dental Medicine
I was born and raised in Randolph, Massachusetts, near Boston. I graduated from UConn in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and earned my Master of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Rutgers in 2017.
As a member of UConn’s football team, I spent many service hours volunteering with the communities of Connecticut; I especially enjoyed working with youth in Hartford. At Rutgers, I volunteered at a free pediatric clinic. Since graduating from Rutgers, I have worked as a dental assistant.
I sought to join the Urban Service Track because I feel the program is the best academic means towards achieving my goal of becoming a health care professional of color, exemplifying that there aren’t insurmountable racial and financial barriers to becoming a health care professional. The UST will also allow me to use my time at the UConn School of Dental Medicine to give back to the community, especially to the underserved.
