Molly Gallagher

Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant

I was born and raised in Bethel, Connecticut. I received my undergraduate degree in biology from Western Connecticut State University.

I worked as an EMT for three years, both in the ambulance and in the emergency department. During my time in the emergency department, I frequently saw variegated patient population that received the same, standardized care not suited to their socio-cultural background. Additionally, I saw how a lack of primary care negatively affects both the overall health of patients and the healthcare system itself by inundating clinical sites like the emergency department.

The opportunity to participate in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program appealed to me because of its focus on adjusting patient care to meet the needs of specific populations, especially underserved populations. I hope to learn more about inequities in health care, and to become a part of their solutions as a further healthcare provider.
