Mia Hrabcsak
UConn School of Nursing Class of 2019
I was born in Nanjing, China, was adopted into the United States as a baby, and grew up in Danbury, Connecticut. I am currently working towards my bachelor’s degree in Nursing at the University of Connecticut.
I have experience volunteering with both young children and with elderly people. I have worked as a camp counselor during summer, and am currently a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters. When I’m not at UConn, I work as a Certified Nursing Assistant at a nursing home in my hometown of Danbury.
I am interested in joining the Urban Service Track as I see it as the most effective way to help me help members of underserved communities. Through my education and volunteer experience with the UST, I hope to become an advocate for the populations who lack the resources to advocate for their own care, and to empower these communities to take an active part in maintaining their collective and individual healths. I also look forward to working closely with other health care disciplines, developing effective interdisciplinary groups and means of communication, to improve the overall health of my patients.
