Kayla Rampassard
UConn School of Nursing
I was born and raised in East Hartford, CT, and graduated from East Hartford High School (EHHS). While attending EHHS, I got my certified nursing assistant (CNA) license. I have been working in the ICU at Saint Francis Hospital as a CNA for the last year and a half. I also work for my town Parks & Recreation division, where I help with town events and swimming lessons.
I wanted to get involved in UST/AS because I am interested in disadvantaged and underserved populations. I am not sure what kind of nursing I would like to do, but being in UST/AS will allow me to learn more and work with different populations. Additionally, I sought involvement in UST/AS because it will give me the chance to work with students with other majors and get different perspectives on things. Through my experiences with UST/AS, I hope to, as a nurse, consider a variety of aspects of my patients’ care, including physical and mental health, safety, access to food, etc. I also hope to spread more awareness about underserved populations and how to help them.
