Jonathan Lu
UConn School of Pharmacy
I was born and raised in Rocky Hill Connecticut. I will graduate from UConn in 2022 and will receive my Pharm.D in 2024.
Throughout high school and college, I worked many jobs and participated in many volunteer opportunities that steered me to towards community service. One of my most memorable volunteer opportunities came when I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. I and a group of other students flew to New Orleans to build homes for families that had lost theirs to Hurricane Katrina. My most relevant jobs were camp counselor, pharmacy technician at Walmart, and student pharmacy intern at Hartford Hospital. In all these jobs, I learned how to better communicate and empathize with coworkers and with people of different age groups.
I want to join the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program because I have a passion for healthcare and helping others, especially those in underserved communities. The UST/AS Program hosts many events that will allow me to interact with other healthcare students and to work towards solving the problems underserved communities daily confront. I believe the experiences I will have with the program will lead me to develop into a better, more effective public health professional.
