UConn School of Pharmacy

I was born and raised in Commack, NY, a town located on Long Island. I am currently an undergraduate student and in my second year of pharmacy school.

One of my first encounters with the underserved population was in college during my undergraduate years. With the help of my brothers in my pharmaceutical fraternity, Alpha Zeta Omega, we put together care packages filled with toiletries for a homeless shelter. Albeit not directly related to healthcare, it made me realize that there is an entire population living in close proximity to myself that does not have basic hygiene necessities, such as a toothbrush and toothpaste. These things do in fact play a role in a person’s health. It was from this moment on that I knew that I wanted to serve the underserved with the skills that I will learn in pharmacy school. I am also a member of the American Pharmacist Association, where we lobby in Hartford for bills to give better healthcare access to the underserved. These bills include allowing pharmacists to provide immunizations to those that may not have access to health insurance.

I knew that joining UST would give me the skills and opportunities to care for the underserved. These skills will follow me throughout my career, allowing me to be a compassionate and empathetic healthcare provider to those that need it most.
