UConn School of Nursing, Class of 2017

I was born in New London, Connecticut and raised in Quaker Hill, Connecticut. I come from a strong Polish heritage, as my father was an immigrant. I am currently a full time student working to obtain a BSN/RN degree.

I am highly involved in community outreach through the Mansfield Middle School tutoring program as a mentor to 6th graders. I am a One Dies Alone volunteer at Hartford Hospital, where I also work as a mobility volunteer on the cardiac floors. These experiences form the foundation for my clinical experience.

I am seeking involvement in the Urban Service Track after hearing about it in my introductory nursing class with Lisa-Marie Griffiths, who motivated me to gain clinicl experience and insight into inter-disciplinary approaches toward population-based care. UST will enable me to make a difference in the field of nursing by improving the quality of care provided to vulnerable populations. My experiences with the program will help me to gain a cultural and linguistic appreciation of the communities I will work with and will provide a better understanding of the resources available to these communities in Connecticut. My goal is to gain valuable experience with complex populations to learn about some of the most challenging aspects of healthcare in order to address them as an aspiring nurse.
