Himank Gupta
UConn School of Dental Medicine Class of 2015
I was born in Punjab, India and moved to Waterbury, Conn. when I was 12. I started in at UConn’s Waterbury campus and graduated from the Storrs campus in 2011, majoring in Biology and minoring in Anthropology. I am the first person in my family to enter the Dental/Medical field. I have volunteered at St Mary’s Hospital’s surgery floor, the Yale New Haven Hospital ER, Abbott Terrace Convalescent Home in Waterbury, and American School of the Deaf. As a kid I felt a sense of responsibility and urge to help my community and anyone who is in need. My experiences in India made me think about the large number of people out there who seek medical help and can’t afford to do so. I joined UST because this program gives me a chance to work with people from many different disciplines towards a common goal. I am looking forward to working together in order to collaborate and share our own individual knowledge to make a difference in many lives out there.
