Hank Weinstock
UConn School of Medicine
I was born in Chappaqua, New York, and raised in Weston, Connecticut.
For the past year, I have been working for the Office of Emergency Medical Services in the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Office as a data analyst, making use of my passion for research and system-wide, evidence-based healthcare improvement. In this position, I am responsible for conducting ongoing quality assurance (QA/QI) projects for all ambulance runs in the state. I work with researchers throughout the state to investigate trends in patient presentation and in patient care from providers. My past experiences as a volunteer ALS EMS provider and Instructor/Coordinator (I/C) have allowed me to impact healthcare policy at this job by crafting new statewide EMS guidelines as a member of the protocol committee with the state medical director.
Through the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars Program, I want to learn how to enhance my skills in disease prevention and how to work with an expanded, diversified patient population. I also look forward to learning how to work as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team that can provide comprehensive care for the individuals and populations that need it the most.
