Erin Wu

UConn School of Dental Medicine

I am a first year dental student at UConn Dental School with an anticipated graduation year of 2027.

Born and raised in Cheshire, Connecticut, I have a degree in Nutritional Sciences with a minor in Biological Sciences and Spanish from the University of Connecticut. I hope to be able to use my proficiency in Spanish to assist in transitioning for underserved Spanish- speaking populations, as access to healthcare is an issue I feel strongly about.

I have had the privilege of working with urban underserved populations through my involvement with the UConn Migrant Farm Worker Clinics, the Sanctuary City Kitchen in New Haven, and with the Nutrition Club at UConn, exposed me to the field of community health and helped me realize the enforcement of not only clear and effective communication, but also the power of service, compassion and cultural understanding.

In the future, I hope to work within the field of community health, and through my involvement with UST/ AS, I aspire to foster meaningful collaboration and learn from like-minded individuals and to be able to develop community- centered approaches that address health disparities and promote long term well-being. I hope to learn a lot more about how to properly address healthcare disparities and improve access to quality care. I hope that through the resources offered by UST/ AS, I will be able to implement what I have learned in my future work.
