UConn School of Nursing

I was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut. I have had the pleasure of working as a Community Outreach intern for the public health organization Eastern Connecticut Area Health Education Center (AHEC). I have also worked as a clinical intern at Yale New Haven Hospital.

I sought involvement in the Urban Service Track because I have lived in underserved populations where people often have to choose between their regular doctor visits and missing work, which could lead to a smaller pay-check and less food on the table the next day. I know working with UST will provide with me with the opportunity to combine my understanding of underserved communities’ hardships with my nursing education in collaborations with other healthcare disciplines, collaborations missing from other programs. I’m confident my experience with UST will position me to make a lasting impact on healthcare access for those without it, so that access to quality health services will be implemented as a basic human right and not a privilege.
