I was born and raised in Farmington, Connecticut, and attended Stony Brook University in New York, where I obtained my bachelor’s degree in biology.
In undergrad, I had the opportunity to help organize holiday events for unhoused young families and their children. It was a privilege to get to know these folks, and it fostered an interest in working with vulnerable and underserved populations early on. I built upon this interest after I graduated in 2020 and started working at Planned Parenthood in the north end of Hartford. In this role, I worked with diverse and underserved patient populations every day. It was incredibly fulfilling not only to take care of but get to know these communities, and the unfair challenges they face in life and in accessing healthcare.
When I learned about the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program at UConn, I thought it would be a great opportunity to further these interests. I see the UST/AS Program as an opportunity to engage in learning and experiences that will help me become the kind of physician I would like to be: one that has meaningful perspectives on health disparities and inequities, and the capacity to try and address them.
