Christina Pienkos
UConn School of Pharmacy
I intend to graduate from the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy with my PharmD degree in 2027. I have a minor in molecular and cellular biology.
I was born in New Haven, CT, and lived there until I was eight years old, when I moved to North Haven, CT. I studied abroad in Tanzania through a UConn organization called Plan my Gap Year (PMGY). I stayed in a town called Arusha, with both rural and urban regions. I taught English to children ranging in age from two to six years old. I collaborated with the teacher to come up with review activities for terms they already learned, introduced them to children’s songs in English, and drafted new lesson plans for the upcoming weeks.
I joined UST because I felt it was an opportunity to gain more real-world experiences working with diverse populations in a low-risk environment. I am looking forward to making genuine connections within the community. In addition, I am interested in interprofessional collaboration to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of a healthcare team. Changing the world starts with improving yourself and your community. My goal as a healthcare professional is to advocate for holistic, diverse care. I am confident that being an Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholar will enhance my skill set and give me the tools I need to become a well-rounded pharmacist.
