Briti Prajapati

UConn School of Dental Medicine

I was born and raised in Banepa, Nepal, and moved to Boston, MA at 11 years old. I pursued my undergraduate education from the College of the Holy Cross in Biology and Studio Arts.

Working at the Light House Nursing Care Center during COVID-19, when patients were isolated in separate rooms, has been my most rewarding experience. While adhering to all safety protocols, I had the privilege of creating a fun atmosphere for these patients by decorating their living spaces, painting their nails, and sharing stories! An additional experience where I have found great value has been serving as a mentor to four first-generation college students like me
at the College of the Holy Cross to help them navigate their academic journey through my experience. This experience has flourished my enthusiasm to gain the knowledge and skills to continue mentoring and supporting those around me as I further my dental education.

As a future dentist, my goal is to have a comprehensive awareness of the different barriers that people face within the healthcare system. I hope to apply this knowledge in advocating and taking action to create facilities that help bridge this gap. Through my involvement in UST/AS, I hope to gain exposure and understanding of the different communities I will serve throughout my education and beyond to shape me into a healthcare practitioner adept at fostering trust and providing exceptional care to patients from all different backgrounds
