Bridget Campos
UConn School of Nursing
I was born and raised in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at UConn.
At UConn, I am a member of Jumpstart, where I work to reverse the kindergarten education gap faced by preschool-aged children living in low-income neighborhoods. I collaborate with team members to implement early childhood curricula that promote children’s literacy skills and development. I also work at UConn’s Student Health Services where I assist the professional staff with tasks such as point-of-care testing, taking vital signs, and greeting and providing general information to incoming patients. I am a member of the Student Nurses Association, and have participated in Huskython for the past two years.
The Urban Service Track combines my passion for medicine with my passion for helping others. Working with Jumpstart has provided me with insights into the struggles members of underserved communities deal with every day; the UST will allow me to expand on and apply these insights in a medical setting. The program will provide invaluable hands-on experience working with underserved communities as part of an interprofessional team. Ultimately, it will help me to become an advocate for those without a voice and to create a positive change in the healthcare vulnerable populations receive.
