Allison Knowles
Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant
I was born in Richmond, Virginia and grew up in Greensboro, North Carolina. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences.
In college, I worked with the Make-A-Wish Foundation as the Philanthropy Chair of the UNC chapter of the Chi Omega Fraternity. I also served as the Fundraising Chair of Timmy Global Health, a national nonprofit that works to equalize access to health care. I participated in two medical service trips to Ecuador with TGH, and it was during these trips that I developed a passion for working with underserved populations.
Before attending the physician assistant school at Quinnipiac, I worked as a medical assistant in an orthopedic surgery practice where I built relationships with patients of all backgrounds. I also witnessed the teamwork between physicians, PAs, medical assistants, and other valuable members of health care teams with the same goal of providing exceptional patient care.
The Urban Service Track is an incredible opportunity to learn about interprofessional relationships, and how we can best service our patients through a team-based approach that recognizes the obstacles our patients face. From the UST, I hope to learn more about the multifaceted issues that patients face and how I can most effectively support my patients in their pursuit of better health.
