Alexandra Villalba
Quinnipiac Physician Assistant Program, Class of 2019
I was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Florida when I was 9 years old. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from The Florida State University.
As a freshman in college, I volunteered with a Social Justice Living Learning Community. We engaged in discussions about societal issues and implemented projects to further our understanding of people’s communities. This led to my joining the executive board of Hands of Hope, a non-profit organization raising public awareness of a spectrum of disabilities, from autism to paraplegia. I volunteered for Ability 1st Build-A-Ramp, a program that constructs wheelchair access ramps in the homes of people with physical disabilities, and as a Medical Assistant in a clinic focused on assisting underserved communities. My experiences in and outside the classroom have been imperative in helping me develop into the person I am today.
I view the Urban Service Track as an enrichment opportunity for my PA program classes, an opportunity to expand on my classroom-derived knowledge. As I pursue my master’s degree, my goal is to become an accomplished member of the medical community and to work with patients from underserved communities, to provide them with the highest possible quality health care. I believe the Urban Service Track will help me become an exemplary PA and provide me with the technical and disciplinary knowledge to offer all my future patients compassionate, individualized healthcare.
