UConn School of Nursing

Hello! I am Alejandra Lopez, and I was born and raised in Norwalk, CT. Currently, I am a student at the University of Connecticut pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, which I plan to complete in 2025. Apart from my academics, I volunteer with the American Heart Association in local blood drives here on campus, along with participating in other extracurriculars and clubs. While at home, I work part time at the Norwalk Hospital as a student nurse, which allows me to apply the theoretical knowledge I learn in class to a real-life clinical setting. As a first-generation Latina, one of my most important career goals is to give back to my community, which is why the UST/AS program interested me. By participating in the program, I hope to meet peers from many healthcare disciplines, receive personalized guidance and mentorship, gain valuable clinical experience, and most importantly, serve underserved communities that are often neglected when it comes to healthcare. My personal experiences in these communities have given me a deep understanding of the challenges these communities face, and I’m eager to make a positive difference.
