Adam Bosley
Quinnipiac Physician Assistant Program, Class of 2017
I was born in Seoul, Korea and was adopted when I was 1 and came to the States. I grew up in Churchville, Maryland, which is a suburban area an hour north of Baltimore, City. I attended the University of Maryland, College Park and received my degree in Kinesiology. I used this degree to work as a trainer at the University of Maryland Sports Medicine department and later went on to get my nursing degree at Harford Community College. I worked as Vascular Surgery nurse for two years at the University of Maryland, Medical Center in downtown Baltimore City. I recently moved to Hamden, Connecticut to continue my education as a Physician Assistant at Quinnipiac University.
At the University of Maryland I was the founder of the University of Maryland chapter of Autism Speaks. I worked closely with the Washington, D.C and Prince George’s county chapters of Autism Speaks to provide educational resources and a fair for parents and children. Each year, we put on a 5K fun run to raise funds to put towards research and education. In addition, I worked closely with my fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, to help rebuild houses in the St. Bernard Perish of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. As a nurse, I worked with my unit and the hospital to provide free health screenings to the Baltimore community.
I feel health providers have the responsibility of educating patients and the community and providing appropriate resources for the community. A vital part of this education involves working with an interdisciplinary team of several health care professionals to provide the best care for the community. My view of health care is seen in many of the core values of UST. By being a part of UST I can build upon my skills from the classroom and apply them to my community. I truly believe this interdisciplinary approach to health care not only provides an improved quality of life and improved outcomes for patients, but also improve the economic burden of illness on patients, the community, and our country.
