Abigail Slaney
Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant Program
Abigail Slaney was raised in North Attleboro, MA, and was inspired by her town’s community spirit and commitment to supporting fellow community members. Her experiences in North Attleboro contributed to her passion for community service and advocacy, which she continued in college.
She graduated from Quinnipiac University with a Bachelor of Science degree in health science studies and a minor in chemistry. During her time in college, she had the opportunity to learn from a variety of patients and healthcare providers in her roles as a personal care assistant, pharmacy technician, nursing technician, and hospital volunteer.
Abigail sought out involvement in the UST/AHEC Scholars Program because she was motivated to learn how to minimize barriers to healthcare within the system itself, especially for individuals with long-term disabilities, such as the patients that she worked with in her healthcare positions. Abigail hopes to use the skills that she learns in the program to become a proactive primary care provider who supports her future patients. She is particularly passionate about empowering patients with tools and education so that they can lead their healthcare journeys. Abigail’s dream is to become involved in her community and support health inside and outside the office.
