Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant Program

I am from Northford, Connecticut and earned my Bachelor of Science degree with a major in the entry-level master’s physician assistant program/health sciences at Quinnipiac University, with minors in gerontology, psychology, and biomedical sciences. I have worked as a clinical technician in New Haven, Connecticut, a pharmacy technician, and as a home health aide in Middlesex County, Connecticut.

Although I am not sure where my career as a physician assistant will take me, I hope to work with underserved communities, and would like to learn more about social determinants of health and the healthcare disparities they result in. I want to learn how to best serve those communities that lack health resources, especially rural communities that face numerous barriers to healthcare, including financial and geographical ones. I believe that Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) program will help me become a more competent provider that can cater to the needs of a rural, underserved population. I also hope the UST/AS Program helps me improve my ability to be an effective member of an interprofessional healthcare team.
