UConn School of Pharmacy

I am an adoptee from China and grew up in Ansonia, Connecticut with my two amazing parents. Presently, I live in Shelton, Connecticut and work at Yale New Haven Hospital and Walgreens as a pharmacy intern. I will graduate from UConn in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy studies, then will obtain my Pharm.D in 2024.
In my freshman year at UConn, I participated in a healthcare-based Alternative Spring Break to Philadelphia. The trip lasted a week, and each day I served with a different local community partner. One partner that really struck me was The Last Stop Somerset, a local recovery and addiction resources center. The Center emphasized cooperating with city leaders on creating healthy, non-gentrified spaces where individuals could continue their recovery journey.
While a part of the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program, I want to learn how outpatient pharmacy work can serve not only as a bridge between patient and physician, but as a gateway to contact with underserved communities and areas. I’m interested in connecting with people at outreach events and hearing about their concerns with the pharmaceutical industry. As a future pharmacist, I want to be aware of the flaws in this industry and discipline so that I can better support underserved communities that have been neglected by the healthcare system.
