About Us
SisterTalk: Faith & Health in Action (SisterTalk) is a faith-based educational and support program designed specifically for African-American and Black women who want to attain a healthier lifestyle. It is designed to be delivered as a once-weekly series lasting 12 weeks. The program is run at a church and co-led by two trained church facilitators. Churches often personalize how they run the program: some churches meet twice per week, once for the SisterTalk program and once for group exercise; other churches run multiple groups on different days. Each church can adapt SisterTalk to best fit its community’s needs. SisterTalk was developed by UConn Health with support from EmblemHealth, in collaboration with Black and African American women in more than twenty churches in the Northeast.
