Just Us Moving Project

The goal of the Just Us Moving Project (JUMP) is to improve diabetes control by reducing the hemoglobin A1C levels of people in African/Black and Hispanic/Latino American communities by encouraging increased physical activity. By promoting and tracking daily physical activities, the information learned in our study can help other African and Hispanic Americans who have diabetes.

Diabetes Information

• In Connecticut about 8.9% of adults have been diagnosed with diabetes and diabetes was the 8th leading cause of death in 2012.

• Some people of color, specifically those who are African/Black or Hispanic/Latino, are much more likely that White adults to have diabetes and be hospitalized for diabetes-related complications.

Who Can Participate

To participate in this study you must:

• Have Type 2 diabetes;
• Be age 18 or over;
• Be African/Black or Hispanic/Latino American; and
• Have access to the internet.

What You Can Expect

Your participation in this 12-week study is completely voluntary and you will be reimbursed for your time. Participants will receive guidance on how to increase daily physical activity and decrease the time they spend sitting down.
