Kelly Ferreira, PhD, is a part-time assistant professor at the UConn University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the UConn School of Medicine. Dr. Ferreira’s work has been focused in many different areas, including (but not limited to) the study of emotional development and emotion regulation, with an emphasis on how certain emotion regulation styles can impact cognition and other behavioral issues. Additionally, Dr. Ferreira has recently developed an interest in the examination of mental health professionals training and experiences in providing mental health services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Within the UCEDD, much of Dr. Ferreira’s work consists of advising and supporting trainees from various disciplines in developing research projects related to disability.
