Summary of Results
- The percentage of obese youth decreases with age.
- In 2016, the first year of the CT SIM implementation, Connecticut youth ages 12 to 17 years old reported significantly lower obesity (9.4%) than the 5 to 11 age group (23.4%).
- The percentage of obese youth in the older age group remained stable from the pre-SIM implementation years (2014-2015) (0.1% increase) while the 5 to 11 age group had an increase of 5.2%. In 2018, the obesity decreased by 0.5% in the 5 to 11 age group.
- The coefficient of variation (CV) which was used to assess the reliability of the estimates was greater than 15% for the 12-17 age groups in 2017 and 2018 and, therefore, were not reported.
