Fall

Berries

Each fall the Connecticut Poison Control Center is faced with increased calls about berries. The majority of these situations are handled in the home. Of the 10 percent that warrant an emergency room visit, only a handful develop serious toxicity and include:

  • Atropa Belladonna
  • Daphne
  • Lily of the Valley
  • Mayapple
  • Mistletoe
  • Yew

Fall Clean-up

Fall clean-up routines come with cooler weather. New Englanders must close up boats, secure camping equipment and check furnaces. Critters like snakes and spiders may be hiding in dark covered places. Steer clear of a bite. Do not disturb them. Do not place hands or feet in dark areas when you cannot see what is there.
