M.P.H.
Zaire Bartholomew is thrilled to join the team at UConn Health Disparities Institute. She is a graduate of Howard University where she received her B.A in Philosophy and Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health where she received her MPH. While at Mailman, she studied Population and Family Health, with an emphasis on Sexuality and Reproductive Health. Her public health and clinical interests surround the health equity and reproductive and maternal health of African American and minority women. She aspires to help African American and minority women take control and ownership of their health and wellness outcomes by bridging the gap between personal stories and science/technology. Over the years, she has deepened her understanding and passion for Reproductive Justice. She believes Reproductive justice should be seen as the holistic representation of all areas of women’s health. She prides herself on working through an equity-based lens that centers collaboration and working with teams that value different perspectives and understand that the influence they contribute can change the narrative that many underserved populations face. Her passion for Reproductive Justice expands across multiple disciplines that work hand in hand to produce meaningful change. She has previously served as a Project Coordinator for CUNY School of Medicine working on projects focused on Reproductive Health, Health Equity, and HIV. Outside of her career, her hobbies include cycling, playing soccer, and reading romantic fiction.
