Xenia Bradley
UConn School of Medicine
I was born in West Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Westport, Connecticut. I attended the University of Virginia and graduated in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in psychology and biology.
While in college, I volunteered at UConn’s Migrant Farm Worker Clinics, where I helped set up health clinics at farms near campus to provide medical assistance to underserved workers. Through this experience, I witnessed firsthand many of the barriers to healthcare underserved groups faced. I also volunteered at St. Francis Hospital and at the ER and pediatric hospital of the University of Virginia Health System. These volunteer experiences fueled my interest in public health and in providing medical care to underserved individuals.
I sought involvement with the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program because I want to act on my humanitarian ideals by striving for a more equal society through public health interventions for the medically underserved. The training I will receive from the UST/AS Program will equip me with the knowledge and skills, clinical and interpersonal, that I will need to administer healthcare to underserved communities. I look forward to better understanding these communities and learning how to become a forceful advocate for them. I will use this educational opportunity to help eliminate health disparities in my immediate community and in the nation as a whole.
