UConn School of Medicine, Class of 2021

I was born and raised in New York City, in the Bronx. I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Vermont in 2013.

I have worked in the medical field for a number of years now. As an undergraduate, I was a Science Activity Specialist through the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation in New York, and volunteered with the organization during winter breaks. Outside of schools, in hospital settings, I have volunteered as an ED Liaison at the Fletcher Allen Hospital in Burlington Vermont, and worked as a Medical Technologist and Chemistry Lab Shift Supervisor at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut.

I wish to practice medicine in a diverse and urban community similar to the one I grew up in. In such communities, people of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds come to be patients with a wide variety of health beliefs and needs that must be attended to. I want to be involved with the Urban Service Track to better understand how these differences manifest in medical settings, and to use this understanding to provide my future patients with exceptional, effective healthcare.
