Sumeet Kadian
UConn School of Medicine
Hi! My name is Sumeet Kadian and I am a medical student at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, graduating in 2027.
I was born in Boston and raised in southeastern Connecticut, living most of my life in East Lyme, CT. I attended the University of Connecticut for my
undergraduate studies, obtaining two degrees: a Bachelor’s in Science in Molecular and Cell Biology and a Bachelor’s in Arts in Healthcare and Society.
The latter was an individualized degree focusing on how different cultures around the world view healthcare.
I have volunteered in hospitals, as an emergency medical technician, and as a COVID-19 contact tracer and vaccinator for the State, interacting with a broad
population of patients, especially those from underserved urban areas.
I sought involvement as part of the Urban Service Track as an Area Health Education Center Scholar to best understand how to provide respectful care to
some of the most underserved communities. The role of a healthcare provider often extends outside the clinic, to the places where patients live, work, and play—the same situations that directly impact one’s health. By working with my peers in an interdisciplinary manner, I look forward to becoming a physician who can compassionately care for his future underserved patients both inside and outside of the clinic in a culturally-competent manner.
