Shaharia Ferdus
UConn School of Medicine
Born in Bangladesh, raised in Meriden, CT, Shaharia went on to obtain dual bachelor of science degrees in molecular biology and nutritional sciences from the University of Connecticut. She has spent much of her time before medical school serving as a CNA, scribing, and doing volunteer work in leadership positions through undergraduate organizations such as Bangladeshi Student Association and Huskies for Haiti. She also enjoyed volunteering at AHEC’s Migrant Farmworker clinics and at UConn Health through the UConn Health Leaders program. Her experiences have given her insight into the importance of preventive and community-based care. Her goal is to be a clinician first and foremost with her patients’ health, wellbeing and overall satisfaction at the root of her focus. She sought out involvement with UST due to that shared vision of optimized community health and preventive care, and with the desire to see that vision actualized.
