UConn School of Medicine, Class of 2019

I was born and raised in Milford, CT. I attended the University of Connecticut and graduated as an honors scholar with a B.S. in Molecular and Cell Biology and a minor in Physiology and Neurobiology.

During my undergraduate career I volunteered at Windham Hospital and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, where I conducted research and shadowed in the emergency department. I was also a member of the HuskyReads program, through which I went to Hartford Preschools and taught lessons on healthy eating and proper nutrition. Through UConn’s premedical society I served as trip coordinator and helped lead two service trips to the Dominican Republic where we provided basic medical care and education to underserved communities. Currently, in Milford, I serve as Health Care Director at a local YMCA summer camp and as a volunteer at Camp Amerikids, a camp for urban youth affected by HIV/AIDs or Sickle Cell Disease. Through both organizations, I work closely with children and families to ensure they receive proper health care and maintain their overall physical and mental well being.

I am seeking involvement in the Urban Service Track to become a well-rounded primary care provider who is aware of current social and medical issues facing underserved communities. The UST will help me become such a primary care provider by exposing me to the issues faced by these communities and teaching me to find creative and effective solutions to them through working with other health care providers and community members.
