Quinnipiac University Physician Assistant Program

I was born in Redwood City, California and raised in Springville, Utah. I received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Utah Valley University.

I volunteered as a Spanish interpreter for Community Health Connect in Provo, Utah, an organization that arranged for doctors to provide free healthcare appointments for underserved Hispanic people in the community. I also worked as a Spanish interpreter for United Way. In Orem, Utah, I volunteered with GIANT Steps, which helped children with varying degrees of autism develop the interpersonal and focal skills necessary for a classroom setting.

My great grandparents on both sides of my family were immigrants to the United States, and I group up as a member of an underserved population. Growing up in this milieu gave me the desire to give back to my community in my professional life. I chose to become a PA because of the emphasis the profession puts on helping the underserved, as well as because of my passion for medicine.

The Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars Program’s particular approach to the PA profession is the perfect means by which I can accomplish my goal of becoming a community-oriented Physician’s Assistant. Through the UST/AS Program, I hope to develop the healthcare skills necessary to help my patients and those I serve to obtain a better quality of life. Because optimal healthcare is a team effort, I also hope to better learn how to collaborate with professionals in different disciplines of medicine.
