UConn School of Nursing
I was born in Tay Ninh, Vietnam and have lived in Hartford, Connecticut since I was three years old. I am in the process of earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from UConn.
I have volunteered as a tutor at Noah After School, a program run by Hartford City Mission, an organization created to meet the needs of underserved children and families in the North Hartford area. I am also involved in the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) and Asian-American Mentoring Program (AMP) at UConn Storrs.
I sought involvement in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program because I wanted to expand my knowledge of underserved communities and gain experience serving these communities. I hope this education and experience helps me both to elucidate the issues these communities face to others both during and after my graduation and to work towards overcoming these issues. I also relish the opportunity to work with students and professionals from other healthcare disciplines in order to learn and grow with them, and to learn how a strong and efficient healthcare team operates. Through the UST/AS Program, I will strive to advance myself in my career and become a skillful, culturally competent nurse.
