Molly Brett
UConn School of Nursing
My name is Molly Brett and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Connecticut School of Nursing. I am from Berlin, Conn. and a part of the graduating Class of 2025. My passion in the nursing profession lies in preventative care to provide patients with education on health promoting interventions.
In the past, I participated in the School of Nursing Boxathon event in which we built box air filters for the Coventry School District. The box air filters were placed in cafeterias and classrooms during a peak of the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19 by better circulating clean air during the school day. The event was a huge success as we were able to make 100 box filters! To further my passion in preventative care, I sought to get involved in UST/AS because of the opportunity to learn more about the underserved people of our communities that have become vulnerable to health problems.
As an aspiring nursing student, I am looking forward to learning more about the preventative measures practiced by other healthcare disciplines in order to diversify my practice and capabilities as a nurse. My goal is that my involvement with the UST program will make me be better able to collaborate, achieve success, and advance my knowledge of other healthcare professionals while also pursuing my passion of educating the underserved populations of our Connecticut communities.
