Michelle Williamson

UConn School of Medicine, Class of 2021

While earning my undergraduate degree, I provided health education and served as a health coach for Veterans as part of a weight loss project. I also interned at an adult addiction clinic and outpatient child and adolescent clinic. Most recently, I worked as a Patient Registrar in an Emergency Department, where most of the patients I worked closely with were uninsured or enrolled in Medicaid or Medicare.

Through the Urban Service Track, I hope to begin a relationship with the community that I will continue to serve after graduation. The UST will teach me how to empower underserved patients in a political climate that fosters uncertainty regarding provider access, while also teaching me the skills needed to surmount macro- and micro-level barriers to care.
