Having been born and raised near an urban center like New Haven, I’ve witnessed firsthand the deep inequities in healthcare access, whether due to cost, immigration status, or lack of resources. This sparked my passion to help close these gaps, particularly for underserved communities. During high school, I participated in LINK, a program where I taught English to children in rural China through weekly video calls in Mandarin. This experience ignited my  interest in education, service, and helping underserved populations overcome barriers.

I sought involvement in UST to better understand the systemic barriers that urban populations face in accessing care, and to also learn how I can help eliminate those barriers. My goal is to bring a focus on both clinical care and healthcare systems thinking to patient advocacy and community health, in order to advocate for those whose voices are often left out of the healthcare system. I hope to bring a unique perspective to patient advocacy: one that combines compassion with an understanding of healthcare systems.
