UConn School of Social Work

I was born in Putnam, Connecticut and raised in the small town of Eastford, Connecticut. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychological sciences and in human development and family studies from the University of Connecticut in 2019.
During my undergraduate years, I advocated for greater campus mental health awareness, served as a peer mentor, facilitated a community service project to donate handmade blankets to a local nursing home, and was an active participant in HuskyTHON, an annual dance event raising money for Connecticut Children’s. After graduating, I worked at a child welfare, behavioral health, and educational agency assisting clinicians with in-home therapy and providing one-on-one mentoring to children and adolescents. My experience with the agency showed me how difficult it is for underserved populations to gain access to basic necessities, like healthcare.
The Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program is an exceptional chance to combine traditional education with direct service for and work with vulnerable populations. This dual approach, and the chance to work with an interprofessional group of peers as passionate about tackling health injustice and disparities as I am, will help me cultivate a more holistic approach to social work in a medical setting. I am confident that the UST/AS Program will provide me with the resources and knowledge to aid me in my journey to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
