Khadijah Stanford

School of Nursing

I was born in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, but was raised mostly in Hartford, Connecticut. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing at the UConn school of Nursing. In the past, I have been involved with after school activities for children in middle school and have tutored middle school students in STEM courses.

I wanted to be involved in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholars (UST/AS) Program because I am interested in working with underserved populations; I believe the UST/AS Program will be a valuable experience allowing me to learn more about their needs and resources. I want to learn more about their health disparities and social determinants of health that cause them, and to treat populations that are often overlooked or require additional care. I hope also to gain experience working as part of an interprofessional health care team so that I can truly make an impact on the health of vulnerable populations.
