UConn School of Pharmacy Class of 2015
I was born in China and moved to Richmond, Missouri when I was 14. Later I moved to Manchester, Connecticut. Due to my experience as being a part of the underserved community, I understand the difficulties and the struggles underserved populations have to go through to get health care. My main goal in getting involved with the UST is to fulfill my desire to help the underserved, to provide accessible quality health care to all. I was introduced to UST during my sophomore year, I participated in the “CCMC/UCHC HIV/peds/ family holiday social”, which was sponsored by UST. At this event, I got a chance to work with the families of HIV patients and bring joy to the kids, which spurred me to apply to the program. I also liked UST’s focus on interprofessional teams. I have always believed that pharmacy is an integral part of the health care system, but in order for health care to be complete, it needs to be collaborative. UST provides me with a chance to interact with other healthcare professionals. This idea allows me to understand how collaborative health care system works, which I see as an essential part of providing quality health care.
