UConn School of Nursing
I was born and raised in Watertown, Connecticut. I have a high school degree from Holy Cross High School and am in my sophomore year at UConn working towards a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
While at UConn, I have worked as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Special Olympics, and the American Red Cross Club. I have also volunteered at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut, and I plan on volunteering at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain over the summer of 2019.
I sought involvement in the Urban Service Track/AHEC Scholar Program after representatives of the program visited my Clinical Science class; I see the UST/AS Program as a way of expanding the horizons of a traditional, academic nursing education. I know that wherever my nursing career takes me, I will interact with patients and coworkers who come from more vulnerable populations. Although I have experience working with such populations, having worked with children, those with special needs, and other members of underserved populations, the UST/AS offers a perfect opportunity for me to better learn how to represent those who lack crucial healthcare resources.
