Kaitlyn Sobin
UConn School of Nursing
My name is Kaitlyn Sobin and I am a student at the University of Connecticut with an
intended graduation year of 2025. I was born and raised in Seymour, Connecticut. I obtained my
high school diploma and I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
One volunteer experience that I really enjoyed was with Valley United Way. It was a food drive
that we set up for people in underserved communities. What I liked about this experience was
that I not only provided what I could to help others, but we set up the drive as a small grocery
store in which people could take whatever they needed. I was able to meet new people this way
and have conversations with everyone there.
Experiences like these really inspire me to continue to help others and support the community. Helping others and being able to make a difference in
their lives has always been a passion of mine, hence why I am seeking out a career in the field of
nursing. Everyday we pass by new people and know nothing about them. What I love about
volunteering and helping the community is that I am able to connect with people and learn about
their life experiences. I feel so fortunate to be able to help others in need which is why I enjoy
these experiences so much and would be honored to join a program like Urban Service Track.
