Jaydon Kinuthia

UConn School of Dental Medicine

I was born and raised in Leominster, Massachusetts.

Volunteer Activities:

  • MAGIC: The Medical Gap Initiative and Collaboration program was designed to foster success in underrepresented students. As a tutor/mentor for the MAGIC program, I helped create a safer virtual and in-person environment for minorities to succeed in organic chemistry I and organic chemistry II. Finally, I helped advise students and encouraged them to work hard to achieve their end goals.
  • Vaccine Specialist: Under my E.M.T license, I worked as a vaccine specialist during the pandemic. I administered covid-19 vaccines in all types of communities surrounding Boston. In addition, I monitored patients after receiving their vaccines, reconciled (Checked vaccine reports), filled syringes, and set up appointments.
  • ODK Community Service Sector: I helped create/participate in community service events for the University of Massachusetts Lowell. A few of these events were “Jeans for Teens” (gathered jeans for less fortunate young adults), “Fall festivity party” ( where we gathered toiletries as an admittance fee), and making valentines cards for residents in nursing homes.” In addition, I participated in meetings centered on developing the qualities of a leader.

I decided to become involved with the service track to challenge myself, to get closer to the underserved community, and gain skills to become a role model for other African Americans like myself. The experiences I gain from the service track will help shape me to be a great healthcare advocate for all members of my community.
