UConn School of Medicine

I was born in New Haven, Connecticut and spent my childhood in nearby Guilford, Connecticut. I attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and graduated in May 2018 with a B.A. in the Biologic Basis of Behavior.

Prior to my matriculation at UConn, I worked as a site coordinator for a tutoring program that instructed elementary students living in a U.S. immigrant sanctuary community in Philadelphia. I focused on instructing first graders in Mathematics and English as a Second Language. I also worked at a science laboratory as well as at a standardized test preparation program for students in an inner-city high school. My other relevant medical work includes volunteering in the ER at Yale-New Haven Hospital and assisting nurses and other medical staff in the ICU, ER, and wards of Penn Presbyterian Hospital.

These medical and volunteer experienced instilled in me both a passion for helping urban underserved populations and an understanding of the emotional and intellectual value of working with these communities. I am fascinated and perplexed that high barriers to health care access exist for certain populations; I want to help mitigate these disparities throughout my medical career. The Urban Service Track offers me the resources to develop the technical, emotional and other relevant skills necessary to succeed in this endeavor.
