UConn School of Medicine, 2021

I was born in Cambridge, England and moved to the United States when I was eight years old. I have lived in Connecticut ever since. I studied Molecular & Cell Biology at the University of Connecticut where I was recognized as a University Scholar, and received a Masters in Biotechnology at the Johns Hopkins University.

I have volunteered at both the Connecticut Children’s Hospital and at Hartford Hospital. I was also a Community Outreach service leader at UConn and led many trips to the local community and underserved areas. Destinations for these trips included both local areas like Mansfield Parks & Recreation and Windham Gardening club, and larger groups and events like the Special Olympics or the Holy Cross Family Shelter.

I was attracted to the Urban Service Track for its unique opportunity to learn more about the dynamics affecting health outcomes at work in our local communities. I was also attracted to the chance to work on a multidisciplinary team devoted not only to providing a wide variety of care but also to educating our patients beyond technical, medical matters. This sort of education, on matters ranging from dietary habits to safe handling of insulin needles, is essential to our patients’ health and wellness. I believe the UST program will help me become a physician capable of communicating these lessons, of both caring for and educating my patients on disease, prevention, and treatment options.
