Gabrielle Williamson

UConn School of Dental Medicine, Class of 2019

I was born and raised in Seymour, CT. In 2014, graduated from New York University with a Bachelors of Arts in Economics.

After my graduation, I worked as an Enrollment Specialist with Access Health CT, Connecticut’s health insurance exchange. I was primarily based in the New Britain and New Haven community locations, offering in-person application assistance and issue resolution for this very new health care system. Here, my work exposed me to the financial, educational, and cultural challenges people face in accessing health care – especially oral health.

For me, the Urban Service track offers a place to explore and discover how oral care functions as an integral part of our overall health and with that, an opportunity to combat contemporary challenges in access to health care. With the UST, I hope to develop my professional skills and to find a place to continue community work through my entire career.
